Apne Hisse Ki Shama
(The Candle of Our Share)
A Community-Driven Model for Development
The “Apnay Hissay Ki Shama” program embodies the spirit of collective action and collaboration. Local communities, with guidance from PPHF, take ownership of their village’s development. This grassroots approach involves collective efforts, where residents identify local issues and work together to resolve them. Funding primarily comes from individuals who hail from these villages and are now well-settled overseas. These individuals, driven by a sense of responsibility and attachment to their roots, contribute generously to uplift their communities.
The results of this collaborative model are transformative and far-reaching. With contributions from overseas donors and local volunteers, the program has:
- Installed water filtration plants, ensuring clean and safe drinking water for thousands.
- Established schools, upgraded educational facilities, and hired qualified private teachers to enhance learning standards in rural areas.
- Organized community welfare projects such as village clean-up campaigns, road repairs, poverty alleviation drives, and the construction of basic infrastructure like funeral homes and community centers.
- Provided significant support to widows, orphans, and underprivileged families, ensuring they receive financial aid, education, and emotional care.
These efforts have instilled a renewed sense of pride, patriotism, and unity among the people. Villagers actively participate in planning and execution, developing leadership skills and a sense of ownership over their community’s progress. The program’s success has not only addressed immediate needs but has also cultivated a culture of responsibility and cooperation. As a result, many of these villages are now considered model villages, showcasing how community-led initiatives can drive progress and inspire surrounding areas to replicate their achievements.
PPHF’s Remarkable Achievement
The creation of 260 welfare communities out of 433 villages in Mandi Bahauddin is a monumental gram. This initiative has not only delivered essential services such as clean water, healthcare, and education to underserved areas but has also strengthened the social fabric of these communities. By empowering locals to take charge of their development, PPHF has established a sustainable framework for long-term progress. These welfare communities stand as a shining example of what unity, vision, and dedication can achieve when individuals come together for a common cause.
The Role of PPHF
While welfare and community development are traditionally government responsibilities, PPHF believes that individuals and communities have a vital role to play. Through the “Apnay Hissay Ki Shama” initiative, PPHF is empowering communities to take charge of their own progress. Together, we can:
- Build self-reliant communities.
- Promote sustainable development.
- Create a brighter future for all.
